Lauderdale Residents FREE on 09/27; $16 adults; $10 seniors; veterans & their families FREE! / Free parking \nWe grab lunch at a nearby restaurant. \n\n\n  .\nLocated in downtown Fort Lauderdale between Miami and Palm Beach\, the NSU Art Museum is a major cultural destination known for its research-driven exhibitions\, educational programs\, and diverse collections. Founded in 1958\, the museum features more than 25\,000 square feet of exhibition space and is especially recognized for its contemporary and Latin American art\, photography\, the largest collection of works by American realist William Glackens\, and the largest U.S. museum collection of the European CoBrA group. It is also the permanent home of Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s Surrounded Islands documentation exhibition\, which chronicles their landmark 1983 public art project in Miami’s Biscayne Bay.\n\nOn the last Sunday of every month\, Fort Lauderdale residents receive free admission to NSU Art Museum as part of Fort Lauderdale Neighbor Days. Residents must show a photo ID\, driver’s license\, or residential utility bill with proof of a Fort Lauderdale address. In 2018\, we established the A Sense of Pride initiative to respond to issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community and provide free workshops and programming that foster inclusion\, acceptance and understanding. Using art as a catalyst\, the program works to raise awareness among all populations in Broward of the social and political challenges of LGBTQ+ community\, especially those in its vulnerable teen and senior populations.
